Statement on Diversity
DRBU is committed to responding to the diversity of American society. DRBU demonstrates this commitment in its mission statement, which emphasizes the pursuit of knowledge, self understanding, and each individual’s relationship with the wider world. This vision of human potential is available to any human being. It is vital to DRBU that the opportunity to develop this potential be available to any qualified applicant. This commitment extends to all members of the University community.
Diversity refers to the rich variety and complexity of values and worldviews that stem from differences in background, culture, experience and circumstance. Such differences include ethnicity, gender, age, religion, language, ability/different ability, sexual orientation, geographic region, socioeconomic status, and more. DRBU considers diversity to be one of the fundamental building blocks of the University. This is embodied in its programs, practices, and pedagogy.
DRBU is open to qualified students and faculty from all groups, and strives to serve all potential community members equitably.
Because diversity encourages depth and richness of educational, co-curricular, and campus life experience, the University sees diversity as integral to its mission. This is embodied by an environment of mutual respect and open dialogue cultivated by all students, faculty, and staff.
