The DRBU Facilities team has been continuously renovating spaces to provide “a home away from home” for students, faculty, and visitors. This photo slideshow contains some before-and-after photos from a selection of projects completed recently:
Student and visitor housing:
- More furniture were added to women’s Dorm-C in 2021 to accommodate our growing student body. The residents received and unloaded the delivery truck, enthusiastically assembled the furniture, and arranged their individual rooms right alongside the Facilities team. The new furniture, donated by Helen Woo, infuses the dorm with brightness.
- Building-F of Sudhana Center was renovated and put in use for the meditation retreat in May 2022. The Facilities team also assisted with cleaning, setting up, and furnishing the interior and outdoor spaces for the retreat.
Faculty and staff on-campus housing:
- Cottage 15: Exterior work and a new air conditioning system were completed, which was finished last fall and has housed 3 DRBU faculty members, as well as provided a cozy gathering space for small meetings.
- Cottage 6 : The renovation includes a new electrical panel, new heating and air conditioning, and work on the kitchen, restrooms, bedrooms, windows, doors, floors, exterior, landscaping, and roof. It now provides short-term housing for three DRBU administrators and a gathering space for the community. Much of the furniture, accessories, and art were donated or upcycled from other spaces.
