In 2023, we celebrated the third anniversary of the International Institute for the Translation of Buddhist Texts (IITBT)’s new English translation of the Wonderful Dharma Lotus Sūtra. This milestone marks a significant achievement in making the profound teachings of the Buddha accessible to a wider audience. In honor of this occasion, we are thrilled to announce the development of an audiobook version of our esteemed publication, allowing us to share these timeless teachings with an even broader audience.

This audiobook project has been a collaborative effort, involving the dedication and talent of many students and staff members of Dharma Realm Buddhist University (DRBU). Contributors have played various roles, including translating and polishing the text, narrating sūtra chapters, composing and performing background music, creating a cover design, and managing audio recording. The project has been overseen and executed by the IITBT team, ensuring that the final product honors the depth and beauty of the sūtra.

We are delighted to share that the completion of this project is on the horizon. This endeavor reflects our commitment to preserving and disseminating Buddhist wisdom. We look forward to sharing this audiobook with you, hoping it will inspire and enrich your understanding of the Buddha’s teachings.

“These sūtras were meant to be heard.”

In this interview Dharma Master Jin Chuan reflects upon the oral tradition of the sūtras, and recalls how reading the Lotus Sūtra for the first time led to a deep shift in his being.
